Nick Ring:
Champion in Hawaii Super Brawl Oct 28th, 2005

BDB fighter Nick Ring and his coach Brian Bird have just returned from Hawaii with another victory.

Nick Ring met up with Hawaiian favorite Mike Malone for the semi-main event. The Hawaiian crowd is very supportive of their MMA events and local fighters as was shown during the fighter’s entrances. Nick was quickly booed as he entered the venue; on the other hand his opponent followed a group of children whom were throwing candy to the spectators, the crowd cheered on enthusiastically.

The match started with Nick and Mike exchanging punches and kicks. Nick was dominating the stand up and his opponent quickly attempted to take Nick to the ground. Nick defended the take down with a sprawl and established a head and arm position from which he landed several solid knees to Mike’s head. Nick transitioned to an upper clinch position from which he continued kneeing his opponent’s legs and stomach. Nick threw Mike with an upper body takedown but his opponent managed to scrambled back to his feet and attempt a guillotine choke on Nick. Nick defended by picking Mike up high in the air and slamming him to the ground, landing in Mike’s half-guard. Nick passed the guard to the mount position. Nick rained down with punches from the mount position forcing Mike to roll over and exposed his back. Nick controlled his back and continued to strike until his opponent collapsed and the referee was forced to stop the match.

Nick was declared the winner by TKO at approximately 3 minutes into the 1st round. The crowd was excited to slap Nick’s hand and congratulate him as he exited the arena.

After the event Brian Bird and Nick Ring went out to dinner with the two owners of Japan’s “Pride Fighting Championship”. Brian and Nick were very excited to hang out and celebrate with just the 4 of them.

Nick is looking forward to his next MMA match, possibly in Hawaii or Japan.
