Mind Body Soul Tournament Results
Edmonton, AB. July 4, 2009
BDB took 12 of our competitors to Edmonton on July 4th to the Mind Body Soul tournament. The team represented themselves very well taking home many medals and lots of fight experience. Our team competed in the Gi, No-Gi, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Pankration divisions. Read below for how the competitors placed and all the pictures of the action.
Nick Ring:
- Gold in Advanced men's 185 lb division
- Silver in Men's 185 lb Absolute division.
Nick's first match was against Brazlian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Gabriel Willcox who was the Masters 2006 Mundial champion in his weight class and absolute. Nick submitted him with a guillotine.
     
Brice Willis:
- Gold in Advanced men's heavy weight division
- Silver in Men's heavy weight Absolute division.
His first opponent was an experienced Judo Black Belt and Brice beat him by rear naked choke. Brice had 4 matches, 2 in the regular tournament and 2 in the Absolute
     
Sheila Bird:
- 2 Gold medals in Women's Open Weight division for Gi and No-Gi. Sheila had 6 matches.
Sheila submitted one of her opponents with a peruvian necktie and tapped a Judo Black Belt with a scissor choke.
 
Caitlin Pakosh:
- Silver medal in Women's Open Weight Gi division.
One of her wins was against a BJJ purple belt.

Matt Bagshaw:
- Gold medal in Light Weight Pankration
- Silver Medal in Men's Advanced No-Gi
  
Patrick Mitchell:
- Gold in Intermediate men's division
- Gold in Pankration
 
Brett Bohlmann:
- Silver Medal in No-Gi Men's division. Brett had 3 matches finishing one of his opponents with a perfect triangle choke.
    
Andrew Derry:
- Bronze Medal in No-Gi Men's Intermediate division:
 
Smeal Rama:
- Gold medal in Pankration division
- Gold in Kickboxing division
Also competing for BDB Martial Arts was Corey Gagnon, Chris Brown and Josh Kitchen who represented the club club well and fought hard.
